Coleg Gwent joins forces with Newport Mosque for Ramadan celebrations

This month we celebrate Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and prayer. In support of our Muslim staff and learners practicing the Ramadan fast, Coleg Gwent staff have visited Newport Central Jamia Mosque to receive a guided tour of the mosque and share an iftar meal.

Learners from Sport and Public Services at Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone have recently embarked on a Global Citizenship Programme to Nepal. They’ll be working with the FutureSense Foundation and its local teams to support rural, disadvantaged communities.
Coleg Gwent students bring it home in Skills Competition Wales finals

Coleg Gwent students have competed against hundreds across the country as part of Skills Competition Wales. This year, 113 students demonstrated their ability, competence and knowledge, bringing home a combined total of 17 medals in gold, silver and bronze categories.

Inspiring our students to constantly develop their skills and improve their confidence is very important to us as a college. Which is why we recently ran a brickwork skills competition at our Newport campus, to allow level 1 and 2 students to put their skills to the test.
