In a nutshell
This is an entry level programme designed for learners who may find a typical classroom environment challenging and would need an introductory course designed to encompass their individual needs, providing them with academic study in a safe and nurturing environment before they progress onto Level 1 courses.

What will I be doing?
This course is ideal if you do not have any formal qualifications and are looking for an entry level course.
A range of practical subjects are offered such as cookery, horticulture, health and leisure, ICT, and retail to improve the work and life skills for every student.
Students will be able to select a range of topics to work toward, depending on their learning needs. They will work toward an extended certificate or award in BTEC Vocational Studies Entry 3 as well as Essential Skills in Application of Number and Communication.
Areas covered are:
- Literacy and numeracy skills
- Employability skills
- Projects around soft skills such as confidence building, relationships, attendance and inclusion
What is expected of me?
There are no formal entry requirements. A willingness to fully engage in all sessions and activities.
Full commitment to attendance and respect for others are the essential qualities we expect to see in learners on this course.
All assessments are assignment based.
What comes next?
Level 1 vocational courses, other education or training courses or supported employment.
Additional information
Students will be encouraged to take part in a variety of community-based volunteering projects. They will have a weekly tutorial and support is available to meet individual needs while they are at college. You're taught in small groups and support staff work closely with learners to encourage confidence, self-esteem and other skills.
