In a nutshell
This course teaches IT Professionals how to manage their Azure subscriptions, secure identities, administer the infrastructure, configure virtual networking, connect Azure and on-premises sites, manage network traffic, implement storage solutions, create and scale virtual machines, implement web apps and containers, back up and share data, and monitor your solution.
This course is available as part of a Personal Learning Account (PLA). PLA is an initiative from the Welsh Government which offers people the chance to access free, part-time courses with flexible and convenient learning that fits around their existing lifestyle (subject to eligibility).

...anyone over 19, living in Wales and in employment. The usual salary limit of £32,371 does not apply for this course.
... Azure Administrators. The Azure Administrator implements, manages, and monitors identity, governance, storage, compute, and virtual networks in a cloud environment. The Azure Administrator will provision, size, monitor, and adjust resources as appropriate.
... if you have experience with; PowerShell, Azure CLI, The Azure portal, Azure Resource Manager templates or Microsoft Entra ID
Course content
This course is delivered by virtual classroom. Virtual classrooms are equivalent to face-to-face classroom courses, but delivered in an online environment.
Course Duration: 4 days
This course will prepare you to:
- Manage Azure Subscriptions and Resources.
- Configure and Secure Virtual Networking.
- Administer Azure Identity and Access.
- Deploy and Manage Virtual Machines.
- Implement and Manage Storage Accounts.
- Configure and Manage Microsoft Entra.
- Implement and Manage Azure Governance.
- Monitor and Back Up Azure Resources.
- Manage Azure Applications and App Services.
- Implement and Manage Azure Virtual Networks.
- Work with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates.
Entry Requirements
Whilst formal prerequisites are NOT mandated, the following experience and knowledge are recommended to increase the likelihood of success in the certification exam:
- At least six months of hands-on experience administering Azure.
- Strong understanding of core Azure services, Azure workloads, security, and governance.
- Proficiency in using PowerShell, the Command Line Interface (CLI), Azure Portal, and ARM templates
You will need access to internet, a windows computer and webcam/microphone
Additional information
The PLA programme intends to provide quality career advice and guidance to participants before, during and after their learning.
Prior to being enrolled onto your PLA funded course, a individual learning plan will be discussed with you to ensure that the right learning has been considered.
This will include a general discussion on the following topics:
- formal education or qualifications in related fields
- prior experience within the industry or field
- career aspirations
- dedication of time required
- access to internet, windows computer and webcam/microphone
This will also include specific discussion on the below areas for this course:
- any prior experience with cloud computing
- usage of any cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- interest in pursuing additional Azure qualifications
