Course content
You’ll need to be numerate, creative and have a keen interest in electrical and electronic engineering, as well as being fully committed to attendance, self-motivated and punctual.
The course itself consists of a range of mandatory and optional units, including:
- Engineering health and safety
- Engineering principles
- Principles of electrical and electronic engineering
- Power supply and analogue and digital circuit principles and fault finding
- Maintenance of electrical equipment and systems
- Electronic power control principles and practice
You’ll be assessed through exams, coursework, assignments, practical assessment and portfolio work before being awarded the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering). If you’ve taken advanced mathematics and science as an optional unit within the qualification you could progress to a higher level qualification (e.g. HNC).
Entry Requirements
You’ll need to already have completed the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) and associated skills qualifications.
Additional information
As part of this course you’ll also develop essential employability skills such as self-management, team working, business awareness and customer awareness, problem-solving, communication, basic literacy and numeracy and a positive attitude to work. You’ll need to provide your own Personal Protective Equipment (steel toe cap boots and fire retardant overalls) and your own stationery and folders.
