Level 2 (Foundation) in Bricklaying, Core Units from Construction Level 2 and either GCSE Maths/Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language grade C or above.

In a nutshell

During the Progression in Bricklaying course, you’ll study a blend of practical and theoretical construction units focusing on bricklaying, helping you to further develop your skills for a career in the construction industry.

What will I be doing?

During the Progression in Bricklaying course, you’ll study practical and theoretical construction units including:

  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
  • Building solid walling, isolated and attached piers
  • Interpreting working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Constructing cavity walling forming masonry structures
  • Producing thin joint masonry and masonry cladding

You'll spend time in our dedicated and well-equipped workshops and you’ll be assessed through practical projects, written tests and online tests. Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll gain the following qualifications:

What is expected of me?

In order to apply, you’ll need a Level 2 (Foundation) in Bricklaying and either GCSE Maths/Maths Numeracy or English/Welsh First Language Grade C or above.

You need to have a desire to work in the construction industry. Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.

What comes next?

After completing the Progression in Bricklaying course, you can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Bricklaying, seek an Apprenticeship, or find employment in the construction industry.

You’ll need to purchase appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at an approximate cost of £40.00, as well as your own stationery equipment.
