What will I be doing?
You’ll develop the expertise to work independently and establish a firm grasp of foundation decorative effects. It covers the following skills:
- Health and safety
- Principles of construction
- Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
- Preparing surfaces for decoration
- Applying paint systems by brush and roller
- Applying foundation and plain papers
- Producing specialist decorative finishes
The course is delivered by both practical sessions in excellent workshop facilities and theory lessons to underpin the knowledge learnt in the practical sessions.
Upon completion of the course, you’ll achieve:
- Painting and Decorating Level 1
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of the community
- Skills Activities
- Maths and English
What is expected of me?
To enter the course, you’ll need a minimum of 4 GCSEs, Grade E or above, to include Maths/Maths Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language, or an appropriate Entry Level qualification.
You need to have a desire to work in the construction industry. Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You’ll be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you’ll continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
