The Level 2 Beauty Therapy course is for those who want to enter the beauty industry or progress from Level 1 Beauty Therapy to the most standard Beauty Therapy treatments.

What will I be doing?

You will learn about client consultations and units such as:

• Manicures

• Pedicures

• Facials

• Waxing

• Makeup

• Salon reception duties

• Health & Safety

• Client care

• Eyelash and brow treatments

• Tanning

• Eyelash lifting

• Eyelash extensions - introduction

Within each of these units you will have practical assessments to show competency practically as well as exams and assignments to cover all criteria outcomes to make sure all is achieved.

What is expected of me?

You are expected to attend every session, work hard and carry out practical assessments on paying clients as the salon is a realistic training salon establishment.

You will need to be self-motivated, hardworking, take pride in your appearance, be numerate and have a friendly personality.

You will be expected to work on paying clients and attend work placement as part of the programme.

What comes next?

After Level 2 Beauty Therapy you can progress to Level 3 Beauty Therapy to upskill your beauty treatments.

Or, depending on your skill set and options you could progress to Level 3 Nail Technology or Level 3 Theatrical Makeup.

This course will also qualify you to do Eyebrow Lamination.

Additional information

Dress code:

• Uniform

• Hair must be neatly tied back off the face

• Day makeup application

• No piercings and only a wedding ring is allowed to be worn in the salon

As a condition of your place on this course, you will be expected to purchase the appropriate kit, from our approved supplier, costing approximately £86 subject to review/inflationary price increase.

To reflect industry expectations, you will be required to wear a Coleg Gwent salon uniform which is to be ordered from our approved supplier. Details on how to order your uniform, with supplier payment options, can be obtained from your Head of School, Lecturer or Technician. The price for 2024/2025 is around £45, subject to inflationary price increase.

Additional costs could occur during the year for educational visits.
