Course content
Continuing on from BHS Stage 2, this course will include:
Horse Care
- Select, fit and evaluate a range of specialist tack and equipment
- Nutrition, fittening and horse physiology
- Conformation and health of horses
- Caring for different groups of horses, including mares, foals and young stock
Lunging
- Lunge a horse for exercise
- Show improvement in the horses movement
- Lunging over poles
- Correct use of lunging aids
You’ll need to provide your own riding hat to current BHS standards, jodhpurs and boots. The course prepares you for the Care and Lunge sections of the BHS Stage 3 & 4 assessments.
Entry Requirements
While there are no formal entry requirements for this course, you should have obtained the BHS Stage 2 qualification or have skills and experience at this level.
Learners should be at least 19 years of age.
Additional information
This course is run by one of our BHS qualified instructors and runs on an evening.
You'll require a correctly fitted riding hat that meets current safety standards, yard or riding boots and gloves.
Please note that this course is designed to prepare learners for the Care and Lunge sections of the BHS Stage 3 & 4 qualifications, however this course does not include the assessments.
After booking your course you have 14 days to change your mind and request a full refund. You can still request a refund after this date, but this will only be given if you meet the criteria from the college fee policy.
If your chosen course starts within 14 days of you booking your place, then the 14 day refund policy does not apply and any refund will be subject to the college fee policy.
