There are no formal entry requirements for this course, but you do need to show commitment and a desire to work within the sector. Empathy, reliability, punctuality and a kind and supportive skill set are essential.
In a nutshell
This course will prepare learners to progress to a course at Level 2. The course is continually assessed and covers a range of core units which are designed to develop employability and communication skills, alongside optional units in Childcare and Health and Social Care.
Learners will be assessed using various assessment methods. There are currently no examinations on this course.

What will I be doing?
This BTEC qualification will develop knowledge needed for job roles and opportunities within the Health and Social Care/Childcare sector. Learners will undertake core and optional units (10 units in total).
There is an emphasis on developing employability, literacy and numeracy, communication and teamworking to prepare learners to progress to the next level.
You’ll learn through group work and classroom-based learning.
You’ll be assessed via assignments, group and individual activities to support progress and learning.
Learners will also continue the study of Maths and English.
What is expected of me?
No formal qualifications are required. Learners must demonstrate full commitment (attendance) to all aspects of the course including Maths and English.
You'll also need respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject, self-motivation and a passion for the health and social care industry.
What comes next?
Opportunity to progress onto Level 2 programme. If you wish to progress to a Childcare or Health and Social Programme a MM grade will be required and engagement and progress in skills (Maths and English).
