What will I be doing?
Health & Social Care related topics: -
This course is delivered through group work/class discussions, classroom-based learning and work experience, which is a compulsory part of the course.
You will be assessed by examination and NEA non-examination assessments and you’ll achieve:
- Level 3 Health and Social Care
- Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of industry
What is expected of me?
To enrol, you’ll need a minimum of 5 GCSEs, Grade C or above, to include Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh First Language, ideally a D Grade in Biology or Science is desirable, or an appropriate Level 2 qualification at Merit Grade with GCSE Maths/Numeracy and English/Welsh.
Full commitment to attendance is required, as is respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation. You will be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you will continue your studies and coursework/work placement in your own time.
What comes next?
Successful completion of the Level 3 Health and Social Care: Priciples and Contexts will allow you to progress on to the second year and complete the full course programme. From there, you can go on to Higher Education or employment in statutory, voluntary and private vocational sectors in care work, community work, public service, education welfare or support work.

All learners must have a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check prior to starting the course (at their own cost).
DBS applications must be carried out at Coleg Gwent.
