In a nutshell
Approved by the University of the Arts London (UAL), this new and innovative 1-year course helps you discover what interests you most in art and design and develops some of the essential skills that underpin creative disciplines. It will encourage you to communicate visually, think conceptually and develop problem solving and practical techniques.
This course is for you if...
...you want to explore different areas of art and design
...you want to stretch your ability to think conceptually and communicate visually
...you want a career in creative industries such as fashion, fine art, design or photography
What will I be doing?
The course covers creative specialisms with exciting projects designed to reflect industry experience. You’ll have access to professionally-equipped art and design workshops and studios and will learn through experimentation, using a broad range of 2D, 3D and digital processes. Projects will help you gain a contextual understanding of art and design, supporting you to make and articulate your personal journey and interpretations. Your tutors will have extensive skills, knowledge and experience of industrial practice and education within the creative arts and, throughout the year, you’ll be encouraged to develop personal affinities and interests. In Term 3, you’ll undertake a self-initiated project to identify a more specialist area of interest, such as painting and drawing, fashion and textiles, 3D design, photography and digital design. You’ll be assessed on your coursework, eventually achieving Level 3 Art and Design, as well as appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set, skills activities and English and Maths.
