VTCT Award in Skin Needling Level 4

In a nutshell

The VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Skin Needling is an advanced therapy qualification aimed at level 3 qualified practitioners aged 18 and over, who wish to add this therapy to their repertoire of treatment offerings. The primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for employment in the advanced aesthetic industry providing skin needling techniques.

• those who want to introduce non-medical aesthetic treatments into their business
• those who hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or the Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies
• those who are aged 18 and over.

Course content

Skin Needling, is a cosmetic procedure that is used to encourage collagen production using a medical-grade, state-of-the-art precision microneedling device tool that can easily help repair deep skin damage without causing further scarring or discomfort. It will strengthen & stimulate the deeper layers resulting in further restorative results on the surface such as fine lines and wrinkles, the reduction of redness, smooth the skin’s texture and blur the appearance of pores, acne, pigmentation and other blemishes.

The course includes:

• Health and Safety considerations
• Treatment Planning
• Cosmetic Skin needling products and equipment
• Practical Treatment Application
• Pre and post treatment advice
• Anatomy, physiology and pathology

Assessment is through practical and theory examinations and clinical case studies and you will be awarded the VTCT Level 4 Award in Skin Needling.

On completion of this course you can progress onto other Level 4 and 5 courses including:

• Level 4 Award in Skin Peeling
• Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency
• Level 4 Award in Microblading Eyebrows
• Level 4 Award in Dermaplaning

Entry Requirements

You will need to hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification or Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetics and be aged 18 or over.

Additional information

Please note that from 2024, local authorities require that you complete mandatory training to obtain registration to practice. The mandatory, one day training course in Infection Prevention Control will be available to you at Coleg Gwent.

You will be required to wear a clinic uniform and suitable footwear.

The course fees include tuition and registration fees. Tuition fees are due at the time of booking/enrolment. If required, this can be by direct debit, over five instalments.If your employer is funding your course, confirmation of this in writing will be required so that the college can arrange to invoice them.

It is essential that you are able to provide 4 - 6 clients as case studies for your assessments.

Commercial and Business Advantages

Skin Needling treatment costs can vary depending on the area that is being treatment, the products and the combination of other modalities such as peels and LED light therapy(Radio Frequency). Treatments would usually start at around £150 per session, typically clients need 3-5 sessions to treat a more advanced concern such as acne scarring.
